xDrive – The BMW all-wheel drive system, xDrive, ensures your BMW has the best possible traction at all times, enhancing agility and keeping you safely on track, even on fast bends.
xDrive is the permanent all-wheel drive system from BMW: under normal circumstances, it distributes driver power between the front and rear axles in a 40:60 ratio, and changes this figure variably when the road surface or overall driving conditions change.
sDrive – BMW’s only rear wheel drive cars.
eDrive – The electric drive concept BMW eDrive offers maximum driving pleasure – and does so almost silently and without emissions. Three components form the core of BMW eDrive: the electric motor, the lithium-ion high-performance battery and intelligent energy management.
Efficient Dynamics – BMW Efficient Dynamics is an innovative programme to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions while enhancing dynamic performance and driving pleasure. It consists of many technologies used to achieve this goal. Some of them are: Engine Auto Start/Stop Function, Brake Energy Regeneration, Electric Power Steering and others.
TwinPower Turbo – The multiple award-winning petrol and diesel engines with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology are among the innovations from BMW EfficientDynamics. They combine the latest fuel injection systems, fully-variable performance control and innovative turbocharger technology.
Active Steering – Technology which lets you do less movements with steering wheel while driving at lower speeds. And to ensure smoothness at higher speeds, as of around 120 to 140 km/h (depending on the model) Active Steering becomes more indirect.
Active Steering therefore reduces the amount of change in the steering angle for every movement of the steering wheel. This gives the driver the advantage of more precise steering at higher speeds, and ensures great stability and more comfort.
StepTronic Transmission – Steptronic makes shifting gears in a BMW with an automatic transmission as dynamic and sporting as it is with a manual transmission.
This flexible feature quickly transforms the six-speed automatic transmission in your BMW to a six-speed manual. Simply move the gear selector lever to activate Steptronic and you can shift gears up and down as with a manual transmission.
DTC – Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) allows more wheel slip and thus a more dynamic driving style with higher wheel traction and DSC controlling stability. A small amount of spin on the drive wheels improves traction when pulling off from a standstill in snow or on loose terrain.
Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) is a sub-function of the Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) system that can be turned on and off. DTC has two major roles: to regulate traction and to enable sports-style driving while providing active stability control.
DSC – Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) is the nucleus of the chassis control systems in BMW vehicles. It ensures the highest possible levels of stability when driving, and it maximizes traction of all wheels when setting off or accelerating. It is able to detect the first signs of oversteering or understeering and helps keep the vehicle safely on course, even if the tyres have varying levels of grip.
DBC – Dynamic Brake Control – When, in an emergency, you apply the brake pedal quickly and with force but without really further increasing brake pressure, Dynamic Brake Control (DBC) instantly builds up maximum brake pressure, bringing your BMW more quickly to a halt.
HDC – Hill Descent Control – Hill Descent Control (HDC) holds the vehicle steadily at a pre-determined speed, helping with the job of brake control so that the driver can concentrate completely on steering.
Dynamic Drive – Dynamic Drive uses active stabilisers on the front and rear axles to counteract the vehicle’s tendency to roll in a corner. Supreme agility, unwavering stability and unmatched comfort on bends: the active chassis control system Dynamic Drive minimises body roll and distributes it between both axles, ensuring a comfortable ride for all occupants.
Vanos/Double Vanos – Smoother idling, greater torque, elastic power: double-VANOS varies the camshaft timing to optimise power output throughout the rev range. Whatever your speed, you benefit from better performance, improved fuel efficiency and lower emissions.
The double-VANOS system continuously adjusts the camshaft positions for both the intake and the exhaust valves. This results in significantly higher torque at low engine speeds and more power at higher engine speeds, while also reducing fuel consumption and emissions.
BMW Reversing Assistant – automated reversing in confined spaces or situations where the driver does not have a clear view, such as multi-story car parks or entrances to courtyards. In other words It is a function which helps you drive back exactly the same way you drove car forward.
Car remembers its last 50 meters and can drive in reverse exactly the same way you drove it straight for last 50 meters unless the speed of driving forward did not exceed 36 km/h (22 mph).
DHP – Dynamic Handling Package
